Default APS TT G8 - Build progress and dyno!!

We are in the middle of doing a G8 TT and I wanted to share the build with other G8 guys. I can't wait to drive this car, the APS system looks great but the power is even better!

Before we start I want to thank New Era Performance for taking the time to talk with us about there cam packages and tuning tips. We are going to do the non DOD blower cam ASAP, so I will update this thread when we do that. I also want to thank Gravana for shipping us the Magnaflow catback so fast, it really helped! Of course, thanks to APS for building this system and last - thanks to Australia for being so good at building cars!

We are waiting to hear back from Pedders :slap: about getting a full system from them and also in talks with CCW about getting some wheels made - updates on those as they come in.

Anyways, enough of that - here are the pictures!

Front end all stock, ready for the stealthy APS front mount.

This is the bottom of the car also all stock. We will be installing the APS system, new 3" turboback exhaust and 3" dual electric cutouts down here.

This is the APS system out of the box. You will notice the intercooler is missing, I forgot to put it on the floor.

Front end mostly off of the G8. Nice TB on these cars.

APS Air Intake is installed with the stock MAF.

New stainless washer fluid tank and intercooler installed.

APS Pipes and turbos on the ground.

Stock drivers side manifold.

Stock passenger side manifold.

The APS turbo assembly with Tial wastegate.

Driver side turbo installed!

Passenger side turbo!

Hmmmm...nice...

We did run into one problem - the flange on the APS system is different from the one on the stock cat. This would NOT be an issue if you are using your stock exhaust becuase the flange is not welded on the stocker.

It is however welded on the magnaflow. We will have to cut and reweld this flange (which is fine, since the car is getting dual QTP electric cutouts)

The new tranny cooler lines are built and installed.

Another shot of the transmission cooler lines.

The APS system all completed - shot from the wheel well.

Some bad advice -

Install the vacuum hose (Item 15) to the rear of the inlet manifold (twist blanking cap off stock vacuum port). Route forwards along the LHS cylinder head with the breather hose (Item 10) and connect to the by-pass valve securing it by using spring clips (Item 22).
We tried this and ended up breaking the vacuum port off. No big issue but pretty annoying. BE VERY CAREFUL if you are going to use this method.

Stock-

Broken -

Off -

Really easy to fix but something to avoid on your own build.

From the last dyno graph it looks to peak at 10psi at 3700rpm and level off to 9psi through the rest of the dyno run.

Awesome numbers

That turbo kit looks like a really high end peice.. you get what you pay for. I like how its all polished and complete.

How much can the tranny and rear end hold up?
