My daily seems to be using some coolant what is the best coolant system stop leak?

Ive always been told to stay away from any "stop leak" type additive for oil or coolant. First thing i would do is try to see if you can trace the problem before possibly gunking up your radiator.

when you run stuff that is purposely trying to gunk up (patch) the leak, its going to gunk up and give you problems in the future...do it right the first time, find out where its leaking...

yeah... I used some cheap stuff before on my 91 chevy w/240,000miles... .but it would be better to fix the problem... so your not stranded on the sidee of the road.

whynns or B&G dont use any of that powder ****, if it isnt leaking bad just starting these 2 will be fine, make sure its for the right color antifreeze, you can get the stop leak for both colors...

I tried Bars Leak when my DD had a leaking radiator (where the tank met the core). Didn't work, just ended up replacing the radiator. Some people say stuff like that can clog your heater core, might not be worth the risk.

correction its wynns not whynns, read the directions, its a fluid additive so its not going to hurt your core or pump or anything eles, used it in a lot of cars over a lot of years, but plan in the near future to get it fixed the right way.

GM has a product called seal tabs that they use for warranty work -- leaks. You can pick it up at any GM dealership for about $5.

My coolant looks like it has oil in it too. Is it really oil or could it be the result of the previous owner using stop leak?

Doesn't seem to leak on the ground and the oil on the dipstick does not appear to be milky

do a pressure test...and test the cap maybe your loosing it when your driving it cause it has a bad cap...

Don't do the stop leak! That **** is so bad and gets in all your ****. If you like your car pressure test it first. If your an auto check your trans fluid.

Both run through the radiator, in seperate passages of course. The radiator could have an internal leak letting the two mix.

Well it definitely is burning the coolant, I can smell it at startup. My daily is an impala with the 3400 v6 that I found out is notorious for leaking lower intake manifold gaskets. Is there a way to narrow down if its the intake manifold gasket or if its a head gasket instead?
