Question Gears make difference on power #'s?

I was just reading on here and someone mentioned power and gearing. So what I'm wondering is does my 4.56's hurt my dyno #'s or help? Just a curiosity question.

power numbers will be lower if you are comparing from a lower numerical gear (ie 3.23 to 4.56).
