Default 12455209 - WS6 Lower Air Box

Been searching for specifics, but, can't find the right answer. I have a stock '99 Trans Am airbox with FRA mod (bottom of box is cut out). When I buy a factory WS6 Lower Air Box for $74.11 from GM PARTSDIRECT.COM, what else will I have to buy to make my new US Exotics WS9 hood fully functional for Ram Air?

Thanks John ... so I won't need to seal the bottom of my current airbox where I did the FRA? Do you mean this GM OEM WS6 whole airbox comes with the lid to replace my current airbox and lid? A lot cheaper than I thought ... if this is the case.

If you are purchasing the lower air box, you will not receive a new lid. You will not need one anyway, since the WS6 lids are the same as the non-WS6 lids. If anything, order a new aftermarket lid by SLP, TSP, etc.
When you get anything installed, let me know if you have any clearance issues. I have an SLP lid with the stock lower air box (and WS9 hood) and the hood leaves marks on the top of my lid. That is why I am been reluctant to buy the WS6 lower air box, because it may raise the lid enough to where it will not clear the hood.

I guess I just don't understand how the hood adapts to the air box to make the ram air 'nostrils' seal against the airbox to provide a path for air to enter the throttle body from the fornt of the car. I have an aftermarket lid, but, I thought the lid had to come off to swap with a lid which has grate-like openings which passes air through the top of the lid ... hope this makes sense.

The LS1 cars are not a actual ram air like the LT1 care were. The air is directed towards the front of the air box. The ram air box is almost 2" tall where the non ram air box is only 1/2" to 3/4" tall at the opening.

So, the air is pushed through the front opening of the airbox and into the bottom of the airbox there?

Anyone have pictures of the WS6 or Firehawk airbox that you can post?

Correct. Then, it is sucked up through the air filter and into the throttle body.
Sort of like this:

.......................................^>>>>>>>>in to throttle body/engine
.......................................^
...................................(air filter)
flow into lower airbox>>>>>>^
