Only use shell v-power here. Spend a little more now, pay a lot less later.

you should probably say which racetrac you were at. Alot of gas stations get gas from the same truck, just a different additive. The main concern with choosing a gas station is knowing what condition their tanks are in.

I'd bet that station's tanks are contaminated with something (there were alot of racetracs that had this problem quite a few years back, but most cleaned up)

Here's a Web Site that someone might be interested in. I buy my 93 octane at these places only.

Is it for real and can I tell the difference? Nope. But it makes me feel like someone is taking the time to try to point out that gasoline quality makes a difference.

If you've had a bad experience at one of these places, I'm not your father confessor. Of course, you should share that experience with other forum members.

I'm not recommending them. I'm just telling you what I do and why. Haven't had a bad experience so far.

Yeah, I've used racetrac/raceway for the past 2 or 3 years - no problems. And it really is a matter of that exact location, not the company.

Now, if the company is being a dick about it (not sure if any would help you out) then I could see the reason for avoiding that company.

SO, are they fixing the car, reimbursing you, or doing anything at all?

When I had my Z28, that's the ONLY type of gas i used. I drive a Toyota Tacoma now and still use shell, I just use the 87 octane now.

its the location at 1960 just off of 45.....I called the district office and I have to speak with them in the morning. because I believe it is only fair to be safe and go ahead and pull/flush the tank replace pump, filter, lines, and injectors.... do you agree?

I stopped in Jasper, Tx. one time at a Shell gas station and filled up w/ super. Only to pump about a gallon of black water in my tank. the truck didn't even make it out of the parking lot when it stalled. The refinery that handles the truck routes in that area sent someone out to take samples and found nothing wrong. Well, they called me back a week later to tell me that the filtering system had failed. It can happen anywhere....

I think the best way on average to tell if the gas is good is check your milage after each fill up. I was getting gas at a Sams a couple of years back and my gas milage went to ****. I was averaging maybe 16mpg using premium. I started getting gas at exxon and shell and the milage went back up.

I started going to a shell near the house and get 21mpg all the time now. No other changes. I drive it the same way daily.....FAST

I have heard bad things about racetrak. It may not be true but I have heard they add alcohol to there gas. I would not suggest going there at all no matter what you drive.

yes, GM's dealer tech webpage gmtechlink.com mentions the 'top tier gas' program, which is also supported by a few other manufactures (bmw, toyota, honda)

i used to think that quik trip was lower end gas, but after reading this, it makes me more comfortable getting gas there if in a pinch... i still prefer to go to shell or chevron cuz i'm pretty sure that i read somewhere that they have a higher amount of additives than other brands.

i also agree with the statement that the thing that matters the most is the condition of the tanks and pumps... just because a gas station carries fuel by a premium brand name, doesn't mean anything if their station is run down and the fuel is getting contaminated...

Yeah I use Exxon most of the time also... When the gas prices all go up it's the cheaper one in town.

*** I have a feeling thats what happened to my car about 2 weeks ago! I just havent done anything to see whats wrong with it. The last gas station I filled up that day was at the same one I always do, Exxon. I thought about that but I figured that stuff like this only happens in Mexico.

I think all LT-1/4 and LS-1/2/6/7 all recommend 93 octane not sure if race trac/way sells 93 and I would never run that in my car, not even my beater. I run v-power only and citgo in the beater because they don't depned on forgien oils
