Default C5 Torque Tube Extension

Tranny Gurus,

Forgive me if I don't use all the proper terminology.

I will be relocating my transaxle 7" aft to match the same change in suspension mounts. I was planning to have the torque tube extended by a machine shop, but I recently thought why not split the trannny and diff housings and space it there? Seems like it would simplify things by allowing me to use the stock shift linkage while maintaining a more centered weight bias.

I will have a custom spacer and coupling machined if I go that route. Any thoughts/opinions on either method?

Default

You will then also have to fabricate a longer mainshaft or a coupling for the axle.
