I have a used cam that was supposed to be a stock LT1 cam, but it's not the 12551705 (.447/.459) cam. The numbers stamped on the cam are
GMPT-BC-15---242. Is this a cam that was ever used in a LT1 camaro or is it out of an impala or Caprice? If anyone knows what cam this is, do you also now the specs or where I can find them. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I searched with no luck, a GM cam should have a part number somewhere on it. Anyone else have any ideas?

Stock cam I have laying here is stamped 241 (1995), which leads me to believe you have a stock 96-97 camshaft

Thanks for the replies. I found a site that had listed the 241 cam as the factory cam for the 93 - 95 models and the 705 cam as the 96 - 97 model for the camaros. I double checked the numbers on my cam and the numbers listed above are correct. The cam in question has the long dowel pin the same as the LT4 Hot Cam that I have, so I think it came out of some type of LT1 application but maybe not a camaro. I know GM used a milder version of the LT1 in a few other cars, maybe that's where it came from. Thanks again for the posts.

Thanks for the offer, but I was just trying to find out what this one was so I could sell or trade it without having to worry about misrepresenting it.

I bought it off of e-bay as an LT1 cam, but I didn't know what year or even what type of car it cam from. I was originally going to stick it in my 96 model Chevy truck with a 305, but decided to build a 350 using a LT4 hot cam instead.

995-’97 350 WITH ALUMINUM HEADS - In 1995, the aluminum-headed motors got the late, pin-drive distributor, so there’s a second version of the H.O. cam with the big pilot hole (.500" x 1.0625" ) and the long (.685" ) dowel pin. Look for a cam with the long pin and either "242" or "705" stamped on the barrel in front of the first lobe.

Looking farther, found this. My original suspisions were right, it's a later year camshaft.

I have a cc502 cam I'm willing to give you for free of you want it. You will need to take it to a machine shop and have it checked out though.
