Default Plasti-Dipped Radio buttons

Not spending a bunch of money on buttons that are just going to chip again so I plasti dipped the trim and right radio buttons that were chipped.

Cleaned up all the trim with some rubbing alcohol and went to town. If this doesn't hold up to abuse I will take it back apart and just have it hydro-dipped or something.

Before

After

Dip compared to the center console

I was just thinking about doing it. I am glad you did it first.

Was also thinking about having a vinyl guy make some templates for the rest of the buttons. Spray right over them with white lay down the vinyl continue over with black. Remove the vinyl then clear everything. That would be the best solution. But this wasnt bad for an hours time and having the dip around from my wheels.

I mean really if you do the tape right you could spray in the car. Mine are worn as well

Testors make a Satin black paint in a spray can and someone did their ***** and it turned out great.

I have new buttons on the way, but I may try the testors trick on the bezel.

The plasti is too rough for my tastes.....

Thanks for the write up!

That looks real good for a quick fix. The plasti dip is getting more and more popular for everything.

I think I might spray my fridge in plasti dip

I did my two big buttons with the testors and the flat is too flat, but looks better than the above(in my opinion). Almost looks factory.

If they made a Satin, which I think they do, it would be spot on.

Off to the store I go.

That is likely due the applied coat being too thick. Plastidip likes to be applied in thick coats but if you overdo it you will get a rough texture. My grille and hood trim look very smooth and feel very smooth.

$3.99 Testors flat black enamel marker dries to a pretty dang good OEM match. It's not perfect, but what is. No one but me knows they are done when they are in the car.

I don't have any 'before' pics but imagine really shitty flaked and peeling buttons and white marks all over the rotary *****.

Here are the after pics about 10 minutes later. For the most part I only painted over the areas that were white and glowing in my face at night. The rotary **** was nearly white all the way around. Not sure what the previous owners did to them or had on their fingers but it's fixed now, and it still looks like this a year later.

Did you ever re-do the buttons in satin, and if so how did they turn out and any pics??
