Default LS Radiator Hose Question

I was at a show today and was checking out a 40 Chevy with a full late model Corvette drive train including an LS2 motor. I noticed that the radiator hose from the thermostat housing went into the bottom of the radiator and the other connection up by the water pump pulley went onto the top of the radiator. Are the LS motors backwards from all other GM engines? I have always run the hose from the thermostat to the top of the radiator not the bottom. Any help would be appreciated as I am just now mocking up the radiator hoses and don;t want a do over.

Yes, the thermostat is in the lower hose and it goes to the bottom of the radiator. Top hose out of the pump goes to the top of the radiator.
