Default Should I replace a pilot bearing w/ 15k?

I'm replacing my clutch as well as swapping in a low mileage shortblock (15k). Would it be worthwhile to replace the pilot bearing? And what's the best way to go about if so? The search feature functions poorly on my phone, so no search function criticism please. Thanks!

Yes, much easier to do now while the tranny is already out. Cheap insurance of having a new one in there.

I've never had much luck with roller pilot bearings. Don't like 'em. And they will tear the living hell out of an input shaft when they fail.

For me I'd prefer an old school oilite bronze bushing.

Use a new US made pilot bearing with a dab of ultra high temp grease in it.

might as well replace it its cheap insurance, as far as removing the old pilot bearing go to local parts store like autozone and rent a slap hammer and the pilot bearing removal tool that attached to the end of the slap hammer once you get it in place a couple of pulls and the bearing will come right out, install new bearing and lube bearing and input shaft with white lithium grease and you should be good to go

^^^

I got the AZ tool (you buy it/return it) which is a Blind Hole Puller. Has various fittings in the case and one fits pilot bearing. slide hammer type of tool, just took a few pulls to start pulling the bearing. Use a wooded dowel to drive the near bearing in

get a OEM "good" pilot bearing, not a China clone

You could put a RAM Kevlar pilot bushing in it,, I've got a ZOOM Kevlar(not available any more) in mine and it was $40 a couple of years ago. If you can get past the high price($59) then get the RAM Kevlar bushing.
