I have an 01 ss M6 - and as far as I know it is at stock ride height. Previous owner said that it was completely stock.

First off guys, I have tried to search and had limited success with different questions and answers being raised. I am probably going to be getting some new wheels 17x9 fronts and 17x10.5 rears. What I am curious about is what size rear tires should I get? I have noticed that alot of people are running 315s but I don't know what side wall height to get. And is there a certain size that I must get to prevent traction control and abs problems? I was originally thinking of getting something around a 295 but it seems that size is actually an uncommon size and more of a specialty tire. I have been unable to find a 305 that (in my opinion) is close enough to the 275/40/17 (which is what I'm going to use on the front) to not cause problems. I'm assuming that everyone else is running 315/35/17s which seem to be quite expensive - $200+ ea. Can someone give me a little guidance as to what I need to look at and what brand would be relatively cheap?

I, along with many, many others, run 315/35/17's in the rear. Roll your fenders and they will fit. They WILL rub if you don't roll your fenders (maybe not in normal driving, but hit a big pothole or a big dip on the interstate, especially with weight, and they WILL rub).

I ordered my fender roller from a user on this forum. Total was around 70$ for all the shipping and such. Trans-Am something is his user name. I'm sure someone will jump in and clarify his name. Awesome user and provided great feedback to help me through the process.

I have read the sticky and no it doesn't address the questions I asked. The fender roller may be a good idea and I appreciate that. But I am just asking what size tire everyone runs and what brand tire would be relatively cheap.

18s are not cheap. I hate it. Use 275/40/17 and 295-305/35/18. I use bfg gforce sport up front and the bfg Kdw 2 in rear. They're good for a dd. if I drove my car only when its dry I'd go with a Mickey thompson in the rear

Yeah I know that 18s are more expensive - thats one reason why was going to stay with 17s, plus I like the look of 17s better. To me 18s are on the verge of being too big - some cars look great with them staggered like that but I'm not really wanting to go that route. Besides that isn't really going to be less expensive...
