Default Heater hoses

How many of you had their heater hoses fail? The two small hoses are starting to feel soft but don't look cracked or anything. I tried finding replacement hoses but so far only the dealer sells them.

I put this on mine because they were getting mushy and soft. Razor knife a little bit off the longer end and it fits perfect.

This guy sells high quality used ones: I think $40.00

Brand new GM hoses....$137.00

Used: $75.00

Or just buy 5/8" and 3/4" heater hose and run them yourself for $20.00. Wrap them in heat tape where they run along near the exhaust manifold piping.

I was thinking to just remove all the factory stuff, the metal lines. Then just run two new heater hoses.....use a couple U-clamps to keep them both against the body where it runs up along the strut tower. Wrap the hoses real good with heat wrap ion that area. So no more metal hoses/lines. All rubber. Then just 4 clamps instead of 8.
