Our carb'd and distributor equipped 402 is in a dirt modified (think USMTS) that just picked up the first feature win for a LS style engine in our area! In only its second week of competition we picked up a heat race win and then walked away from the field in the feature to show the nay-sayers this engine is for real! Gotta thank Lonnie Robins #33 for agreeing to do the R&D for us at Tri-State Speedway near Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Congrats and awesome job!

Doesn't most dirt classes have some kind of rule that anybody can buy your motor for xxx amount? And what nay sayers are there? Thats just stupid...These motors have been around for almost 15 years. You would think anybody who actually knows a thing or two would be scared of running cars with them instead of thinking there isn't anything to em.

I remember when some old tymer told me I was a fool for Thinking that ls motors were anything more but trash junk throwaway motors and all the LSX **** was just a fad by squirrels who didn't know any better. Yet here we are and the LSX is one of the most popular engines in the nation. And the aftermarket for it is prolly just as strong as SBC or gaining on it

There are a bunch of nay sayers and haters when it comes to the LS engines...I used to be one before I got my hands on a LS powered vehicle. I got shitted on a lot down here when I started messing with my LS swap. I got shitted on even more when I put the carb setup on it. There's this old man in my town that always talks crap to me about having a LS in my racetruck, for some reason he thinks his 327 with a "hi performance" cam and "Holley 4 barrel" is lightyears ahead of an LS motor.
Congrats on the win. Is it an all LS class or or you the only one? You think the LS might get outlawed if you keep doing too good?

Our engine is the first (and only) LS running here right now, already had a couple calls asking questions about it. Our package drops right in place of a 1st gen SBC, even uses the same bellhousing and drive coupler for the transmission. Almost everyone else is running a 1st gen (some 430ci) with a spec head and a weight break and we showed them all up. A little more testing in the other guys modified and then we plan to drop it in my Rayburn late model.

I was "on the fence" for a long time about LSX motors.... buddy down the street put one in his Monte My 11.30 on a 100 shot to his 11.32 with a Magna-charger was a wakeup call and I have 50 or so more cubic inches than him too.

Now I'm sold on them and looking as so as I get a few $$$$ saved

The LS is to the small block as the small block was to the flathead. Same thing. Technology keeps moving, weather you like it or not. Its up to the individual when, and where they want to jump off the technology train. Eric L

A machinist on one of the most popular Buick sites stated that the LS is just latest version of the small block Chevy. At that point, I had to questions if he had ever seen one or just thought it was the same thing as an LT engine.

All I can say is that I was stunned the first time I took my car for a ride under LS power. It would make most big block guys blush.

What heads were you running. I know the USMTS guys have the top of the line sbc motors. I just blew up my 377 in my car Sunday and thinkin of putting a 6.0 in its place. You said you ran the same drive coupler that was on an sbc? I've tried to talk to people about runnin an ls motor but every one is too old school and stuck on the sbc's and when you say its fuel injected its like talked physics to a 1st grader..

OCRS rules say the only steel head allowed is a stock production head, but it must be a straight plug head, no angle plug head is allowed, so that's a bummer. Just want to clarify, the race we won was a local show, not a USMTS show. But a car with a CT525 did make the A-feature at a USMTS show here a few weeks ago. Still pretty proud of what we did though.........
