Default Which Oil Pump O-Ring?

I picked up what I thought was the correct Blue Oil Pump O-Ring 12557752 from the Dealership for a 1999 Silverado oil pump pickup tube for my forged 370 build. Once I got home I noticed my pickup tube had a recessed channel with a red stripe for the O-Ring. Should I be using the Red O-Ring on this pickup tube?

Yes you need the thicker o-ring for the recessed groove like that.

Most trucks also use that style, looks like a truck pickup tube also.

Yeah, it's from a 1999 Silverado and the 370 is going in my 2005 Sierra.

I also was thinking, I got a oil pan kit from Summit, and the O-ring is Blue that came with the pan, and the O-ring that came in the stock pump(2002 LQ4) is red, will this cause a oiling problem? Also Im getting a new oil pump for the LQ4 will I need a new O-ring?

You match the pickup tube to the O-ring. The oil pump bore is the same.

Sorry for bringing back an older thread but before I install the pan on a engine Im swapping into my truck I want to replace the oring. I picked up a oilpan and pickup tube off a new crate ls3 and it has a red o-ring on it. According to the chart above the vette should have the blue even though it only goes up to 08 but I thought the ls3 pans were the same as the ls2 ones. It came with a red oring and has an indent so Im pretty sure that it calls for a red one. The pan is going onto a ly6 which also had a red oring on the stock pickup tube, eventhough the oring is depedant on tube.
