Default 20W-50 Oil to slow down oil leak

I have a 97 Chevy blazer that drips a decent amount of oil. Rather than try one of these miracle in a can oil leak stoppers which have never worked for me before a friend who is semi-knowledgable about cars recommended I try 20W-50 Oil to slow it down. I run 10W-30 right now. Has anyone ever tried this before?

It may work. An even better idea is to fix the leak.
