the 4l80e would be easier to do the shift kit turns the 80 into a manual VB. other than that you would have to buy some kind of stand alone controller that runs off a vacumm transducer and tuning for shifting the 2 transmissions

If you hooked ul all the sensors and deleted codes, you could use a stock pcm for the trans (60E or the stronger 80E)

Who did your 200-4R?
That's the problem shift on the 200-4R but it's easy for the buidlers who have studied it.

You could run the trans as a full manual (simple), you could do as slow67 advises (probably what I would do if you have tuning software), or you could use an aftermarket stand-alone controller.

I've been using the Baumann controller. Excellent results so far, simple to tune, very cost friendly, good customer service.

the builder is local ... mass

problem with my 200r4 is that it slips into 3rd at WOT (6800rpm )
1-2 shift is good 2-3 shift slips BUT if i let out of it and let it shift to 3rd i can get back on the gas ( WOT ) and it doesnt slip ,

i have a well know builder from MI working with me on this he seems to think it might be the govenor , so he's going to build me a govenor and ship it out to me to try .

Im looking at doing a 4l80e trans in my 69 and remove my th400. There are full manual 4l80's where you do not need a ecm and is rated to 1200hp.

Yeah,
I was reviewing some of the 4L80E builds online recently and saw a "1200 HP" rated 4L80E with full manual VB by Mad Dog Transmissions.
All stock internals and rated at 1200 HP...

I hope it comes with lots of "assembly lube" because someone is going to need it.

I can't remember ever reading anything good about Mad Dog Transmissions, unless he was the person writing it.

Me either.

There are lots of good performance transmission companies in the industry, and then there are the clowns.

Lots of fancy marketing, all the promises in the world, but in the end, just another scammer.

I have had the pleasure of talking to/working with people from most of the good shops/companies in the industry.

I was thinking more in the lines of Rossler transmission. I was wrong, they rate it at over 1800hp not 1200hp. Sorry. I don't know who Mad Dog is and would not trust him with a high HP and high $$$ piece like the 4l80.

Carbureted engines will require a Throttle Postion Sensor. Individuals converting to earlier engines or engines not controlled by a GM PCM should consider the TH700R-4 as the simpler and cost-conscious alternative
