Default lq4,small cam and all bolt ons 400whp?

I have an 05 lq4 that I will be installing with a t56 and 8.8 ford rear with either 355 or 373 gears, in my 94 s10 shortbox. I plan on using 1 3/4" lt headers and dual exhaust, an ls6 intake, cia, underdrive pulley and a small custom cam, (probably by Pat G) could a setup like this make 400whp with good driveability and decent mileage? Or should I look at an L92 head and L76 intake top end?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kory

Ive got an LQ9, Lingenfelter CNC L92 heads, 1 3/4" LT, FAST 102mm intake, cai, underdrive pulley, small Comp cam (219/235 .607/.621 113+5) in my S-10.

It made I think 407whp, found out later the fuel pump was giving up and going from 58psi to 35psi.. I still havent changed the pump yet

Heads are going to be what make or break your power. Buy the best ones you can afford(see sig), There are very good cathedral and L92 head avaliable

I know what you mean about heads, on my camaro I bought Advanced Induction heads and couldn't be happier. I will probably go with the L92 top end. I just wanted to see if I could get where I wanted to be with the stock 317 heads. The truck will be my daily driver, and not see the track much.
Thanks for the input. Are you on s10 forum?
Thanks,
Kory

Does anyone have an opinion about making 400whp with the stock 317 heads and a small driveable cam? I'm trying to decide if spending the money on an l92 top end is required to meet my goals. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
kory

Why do you have to have 400rwhp?

I figure that it will take around 400whp to trap 117. I don't absolutely have to have it. If I could make say 380whp with the 317 heads and a small custom cam I would probably be fine with that.

Mill the 317 heads .020-.030 to bump your compression, TSP 228R and supporting mods (valves, springs and rods) and you should be right at 400 or more with a good tune and that m6.

freind of mine has stock 03 LQ4,cam only - comp 228/230 cam, vic jr/carb, 1 3/4" headers. engine made 478hp on engine dyno(not wheel hp).
I agree w/justus67 - mill the stock 317's .030" and cam similar to 228/230, and your there. my.02

i'm going to be running stage 2 243 heads (West Coast Racing Cylinder) on my LQ4 408 go with a good company for a good head and you'll be happy. mine is being built for boost so my cam is a 226/232
