Recall for GXP

Recall for GXP MY stepdad has an 06 GXP and he just recieved a recall letter stating about the power steering cooling line might leak and it could damage the pump. You would notice it by spots on the ground from fluid.
Now i have an 07 impala and i havent recieved a letter. I know they got the same engines, hs anyone else recieved this letter, GXP, monte, impala? and what year
i know this has beena known problem for this car but if there a recall for all of them i rather get it fixed now then to have it break later.

Ongoing recall. The hose can get brittle and freeze/break in the cold. Should be able to tell if it's been replaced by the gm warranty work record. But you can drive without power steering so I don't see the big deal.

If you lose your hose, you can burn up the PS pump itself, and that is a big deal.

Does anyone know if this applies to 07s too? Or is it particular to 06s? I lost a power steering line driving a car home from the auction and drove it 20 more miles home without fluid in the pump, and even though it was still drivable until the car died (once I replaced the line) the steering required more effort and the power steering pump whined waay louder than the supercharger (series 1 3800).

mine whined for about a week after and then settled down, no problems in the 50Kish miles since then. I think mine was more of a bleeding issue than actual pump damage. The recall was started after the 07's were manufactured, so I am sure you have the same hose.

I work for a Chicago dealer and we were notified that its not a recall, just a "Special Policy." Meaning no action is needed unless yours fails, then its covered.
On a GXP (or any LS4) you replace the complete return line which has an actual cooler made into the line where the stock one does not.

I was told that this recall is for 06 Impalas (and apparently GPs) only, not 07's and up. And yes it is for cold weather areas only as well. However, the PS in my 07 feels pretty crap-tastic.

I live 30 miles north of milwaukee and have a 2006 GXP and got the letter. I too work at a GM dealer and had it done. Had no problems with mine with 62K now but figured I would do it if it was free! haha

Its a customer satisfaction campaign, not a traditional recall. Heres what it says:
I just did mine a week before this campaign came out. When you do it on an LS4 car you need to detach every engine/trans mount (besides the upper dog bone) and raise the engine 3 inches. You then remove the rear cradle bolts and lower the rear of the cradle 2-3 inches and that gives you enough room to get the line out. Funny thing was that I found my front engine mount was completely busted in half doing this job, would have not have found this otherwise.

Correction
