I am new to the world of boost, and I am going to help my buddy part together a rear mounted turbo setup for his Grand Marquis. We are trying to do this for around 1k so ebay will be used for some parts.

When searching I find all kind of turbos I don't understand the specs, but we are looking for something that is efficient for his setup. Basically a stock 4.6l for now, possibly a 5.4l in the future. Probably spin the motor to 6k, and look to make around 400rwph but would like to allow room for more.

What would you recommend for a cheap ebay turbo?

first of all, i can gaurantee you wont put together a rear mount tubro for a stack, its not going to happen, youll have 1k between the turbo and injectors, not to mention all the pipe, the fitting, return pump, fuel pump, FMIC, wastegate, and bov etc. we just got finished rear mounting a grand prix gxp with a master power t70, and i bet he has about 3k wrapped up in it. and still hasnt paid for all the labor yet.

so with that said. your 1k budget is not going to happen. even if you bought a cheap emUSA turbo for 275, u still need a flea bay innercooler, and all supporting mods, and a TUNE!!!! you cant go cheap their.

a 5xmm turbo or 60mm at max on such a small motor.

If you DO go forward with the idea.... DO NOT buy an Ebay turbo....

1000 dollars is a very small amount of money for a turbo build, usually we spent that much on the turbo alone.

U could goroilla glue a turbo back there for a 1000 but thats about it
