Alright so my lifters are bad and I was wondering if there was any kind of "time frame" before it gets REAL serious. Im saving up to fix it but I was really just wondering if anyone could give me a time frame. Thanks!

If you dont abuse the car a "bad" lifter could last sometime...how bad are we talking? Consider doing a cylinder compression test to see if there is also something more apart from lifters.

You can hear the lifters but after the car warms up and i start driving, the noise fades away so im assuming its not too bad.

What's the mileage on your car? You recently changed the engine oil? Go for a thicker grade...maybe that will help to keep the lifters filled with oil overnight and take care of that noise.

I got 47,xxx, and i changed my oil about a couple hundred miles ago and went with 10w30 i think, ill have to double check on that

It's most likely "piston slap". LS1s are notorious for it. You have no worries, mine does the same thing. Now if its REALLY loud u may have a problem, but i believe LS1s are aluminum and u can hear more going on, unlike cast iron

Alright is there anyway to know FOR SURE if it's piston slap or lifters?

I'm pretty sure if it goes away after like 5-10 mins, it's piston slap. Only use synthetic oil with these motors. a bad lifter would soung really high pitched and would most likely Always tap and not go away after its warmed up. but ALWAYS let it warm up before getting into it

Alright and it goes away most times some days its more distinct than others but it's just noisy when it's cold. And yea i always let it warm up
