Default Clear Honeycomb Taillights for Trans Am

Spawned from this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...-trans-am.html

I'm personally very interested in these, and so are a good amount of others. There is at least 10 people not including myself that says they will purchase them if they are produced, and more that have interest. From reading, it is more than a take the lights apart and make them clear sort of deal, so it isn't something we could do at home and I understand it would take some time. That said, if a sponsor (calling 6LE) could step up and at least let us know if these can be done/will be done with enough interest, it would be much appreciated. I'd be willing to put money down for a pre-order instantly.

seems like a pretty expensive initial investment, maybe if you could convince someone to make just replacement tail lights in general (none that I'm aware of) since honeycomb lights are in pretty decent demand as is, and then offer those after they've made enough to offset the cost of the tooling. then it would be just a switch in plastic vs starting up a whole venture for a very very limited market.

realistically I would think you could heat up some cheap/cracked lens tail lights and separate the lens, and then make a new set of lenses if you wanted them bad enough

They aren't made like most lights where you can just open them up and take out the colored piece. The red tint is actually embedded inside the plastic of the lens. The picture above is actually just a photoshop.

I am fully aware, what I was saying was to remove the red lens from the housinghousing completely and make new clear lenses completely from scratch

There has to be reflective red somewhere on the back of the car, but not necessarily in the tail light. My Trailblazer for example has the red reflectors down in the bumper (a lot of cars are doing this now). The tail lights themselves are red lenses, yes, but they have no reflectors in the back portion.

Was reading a thread the other day....it IS actually possible to separate the tail light lens. Therefore, a company like 6LE or BLS could theoretically just make the clear lens.

I say make them. I would run them personally just because I dont think they would flow well with my car but I think several of you could make them look good. Especially with some killer LED bulbs inside.

It's going to be like everything else when this starts up. Someone comes up with a good idea. A hundred guys go "Awsome! I'll buy 3 sets right now!". Then when 6LE says lets do this - we need 10 pre-orders... those hundred guys end up not having the funds or can't commit right now..... It's like watching re-runs around here.

Agreed. I think they look sharp. I might be all for it now when I have spare cash, but that changes down the road when I spend it on something else. Im sure there would be several people into it if they spread the word a little more.

This is exactly what happens...I would personally like to own a set of these. But I know they would be very expensive, so I would probably keep what I have already. Hell, I really like my tinted LT1 tails.

Would be illegal in most states. We had that issue almost 10 years ago when the F&F Import craze hit. Some companies made basically completely clear tail lenses and even with red bulbs, car becomes a cop magnet and I dont need any heat if I can avoid it.

Really would boil down to local DOT laws.

Red bulbs would have to be used, which is personally what I'd do. Red LEDs if need be, though I hate the looks of LEDs. I'd personally also test out the brightness to make sure they were okay as far as driving. I'll probably buy another set of lights to do this on just in case I ever do get **** about it/for inspection.
The more I think about it, I see clear tails daily. Just the rice looking ones.
